01. WHO IS IT FOR

Rehab that goes beyond pain relief.

If you're an active person or athlete who's been told to "rest and see how it goes" — there's a better path. Standard rehab and traditional clinics often stops when the pain stops. At Pinnacle Rehab and Performance, we continue until you've fully returned to your sport or activity, with the strength and capacity to stay there.

  • Athletes returning from lower limb or back injuries

  • Active individuals stuck in the cycle of re-injury

  • People who want to understand why they're injured, not just get short-term relief

  • Anyone who wants performance-integrated rehab, not passive treatment

03. WHY PINNACLE REHAB AND PERFORMANCE

Not all rehab is
built the same.

Here's how Pinnacle Rehab and Performance compares to the traditional approach — and why the model matters for athletes and active people who want to stay active and come back stronger.

Pinnacle Rehab & Performance Recommended Typical
Chiro / Physio Clinic
Personal Trainer /
S&C Coach
Dedicated 1-on-1 care Full session — no sharing
Every session is 60min and 1-on-1 — your practitioner is with you the entire time
High-volume model or short 20-30min appointments
1-on-1 attention, but no clinical qualification to assess injury
Holistic full-body assessment Root cause, not just symptoms
We assess the site of pain and the whole system — movement, load, and contributing factors
Assessment often limited to the symptomatic region only
Fitness-based assessment — not designed for injury evaluation
Structured rehab roadmap Clarity from session one
A clear phase-by-phase plan from your first visit — you always know where you're headed
Session-by-session approach — no programme structure communicated
Training plan available, but not built around clinical recovery stages
Sport & performance integration Return to sport — stronger
Rehab is bridged directly into sport-specific loading, movement, and performance goals
Discharge often at "pain free" — without sport-specific return-to-performance criteria
Sport-specific programming available, but not integrated with injury management
Dual clinical + S&C expertise Diagnosis meets programming
(Sports) Chiropractic qualification combined with an S&C background — both in one practitioner
Clinical expertise only — performance programming requires a separate referral
S&C expertise only — injury assessment and clinical diagnosis outside scope of practice

Comparisons reflect general service model differences and are not intended to discredit other practitioners or professions. Individual clinical outcomes vary depending on each person's presentation, history, and engagement with their management plan. All care provided at Pinnacle is evidence-informed and within the scope of practice of a registered AHPRA chiropractor.

05. ABOUT US

Dr. Raymond Lau — Sports Chiropractor and Clinical Director, Pinnacle Rehab and Performance Melbourne

A Chiropractor who also knows how to train you.

Meet Ray “the Rehab Chiro”

Born in Toronto, Canada and now residing in Melbourne - Ray got his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology (aka Exercise Science) at the University of Waterloo before attaining his Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University. Ray also has experience working with athletes (high-school to professional level) as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Over the years, Ray has worked with hundreds of people — from everyday gym-goers to athletes competing at the highest level — with one goal: Bridge the Gap from Injury to Performance.

What makes his approach different is the integration of both skill sets (Strength and Conditioning and Chiropractic Care). Clinical assessment and diagnosis inform a rehabilitation process that is genuinely progressive and performance-oriented — not generic exercises handed to you on a sheet.

He has a clinical interest and focus on helping individuals with:

  • Low Back Pain

  • Tendinopathy (ex. Jumper’s knee, Achilles Tendinopathy)

  • Knee Pain/Injuries (ex. ACL tears and Meniscus tears)

  • Lower Limb Injuries

    • Hip Pain (ex. Impingement), Foot/Ankle Pain (ex. ankle sprains)

  • Athletic Development and Performance

Outside of clinic - you’ll find Ray training, taking photos, reading, listening to podcasts and drinking lots and lots of coffee.
